Touhou Hero of Ice Fairy is a single-player side-scrolling platform-shooter video game released by the doujin game developer, Team Shanghai Alice. The game is part of the Touhou Project series and features characters from the series. It was released on 30 September 2016 for Microsoft Windows. The game can be played with either a Joystick or Computer keyboard.

Players take control of the ‘Hero of Ice Fairy’, a human character with magical ice powers, as they traverse across a number of stages and shoot enemies in order to progress. The main gameplay objective is to defeat enemy characters and collect points, power-ups, and special items which help the playable character to progress. Unlike most Touhou Project games which feature multiple characters, the Hero of Ice Fairy only stars the playable character.

Players are faced with a number of boss characters which must be defeated in order to progress further in the game. These bosses feature their own attack patterns and strategies which must be countered in order to defeat them. In addition, each boss has a particular ‘seasonal’ power-up which temporarily increases their attack power and should be avoided when possible.

The game contains a number of innovative power-ups scattered throughout the stages including a crystalline barrier that blocks enemy attacks, a special free move enabling the character to teleport across a short distance, and a reflection technique allowing the character to reflect enemy bullets. All of these can be used to the players advantage in order to defeat their enemies and complete the game.

Touhou Hero of Ice Fairy is a story-based RPG for PC set in the magical world of Touhou. Furthermore, you will play as Reimu Hakurei, a shrine maiden of the Hakurei shrine, and follow her quest to find the truth behind the Ice Fairy and the legendary Hakurei Sword. The story progresses as you explore the world, battle enemies and fulfill challenges to unlock new abilities and advance the storyline. During your journey you'll make new friends, face a variety of foes, and of course use the power of the Hakurei Sword to defeat them. There are also hidden items and materials to discover, which can be used to upgrade your equipment and give you special boosts. So join Reimu as she embarks on the journey of a lifetime to save the world from the Ice Fairy and uncover the mysteries of the legendary Hakurei Sword.
