Description
Torii is an abstract strategy game created by Simon Mara, a Danish game designer. The game is set on a 5×5 board populated by small pyramid-shaped pieces called “torii”. Each player controls pieces of their color and the goal is to be the first player to connect the side edges of the board with their color.
To set up the game, players take turns placing five of their pieces on the board, with the main restriction being that pieces must not overlap. Once the pieces have been placed, players take turns moving one of their pieces one space at a time in any direction orthogonally or diagonally. The only exception to this rule is when pieces are next to an occupied space: in this case, the piece cannot move in that direction.
Players cannot move onto their opponent’s pieces and cannot move over their own. The first player to place pieces in a lined pattern connecting their side of the board with their opponent’s side is the winner. While the rules of Torii are fairly simple, the game itself is surprisingly deep, with numerous variations and strategy options available that can significantly change the game’s dynamics.

Torii is a tile-laying game in which players compete to build the most elaborate shrine. The game features tiles with a variety of shapes and colors, with each tile representing a different feature of a shrine. The game is available in multiple languages, including English, French, and Japanese. For each language, the game includes a rulebook and instructions to help players learn how to play. Additionally, the game also includes cards with various shrines and special powers, adding a unique element to the game.
