The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Zero is an action role-playing game developed by Nihon Falcom and published by NIS America. This game is the seventh installment in The Legend of Heroes video game series, and the second entry in a four-part spin-off series known as the Trails subseries, Trails of Zero itself being the first in the series.

Set in the same world as the main Trails series, the game follows Rean Schwarzer, a new student at the prestigious Thors Military Academy and his arc within his class—Class VII—a group of individuals from different backgrounds who have been assembled to study and grow as soldiers together. As the student leader of Class VII, Rean’s primary mission is to investigate the mysterious happenings in the region and combat their cause, which often involves uncovering conspiracies and political machinations that reach the highest levels of power.

Gameplay consists of traversing various areas across the game’s several field maps where players battle various enemies in real-time turn-based combat. Throughout the game, players battle using weapons and other items they purchase while exploring dungeons and other locations. Additionally, players will also be able to utilize and level up their skills and techniques, as well as set up Percival, a special and fast-moving flying machine, as transportation.

The game also features a fully voiced cast to add a more immersive feel to the game. As the narrative progresses, choices are made that affect the attitude and feelings of Rean’s classmates and ultimately affect the overall outcome. The Legend of Heroes: Trails of Zero is an interactive and thrilling experience that draws players in and allows them to take part in this exciting journey.
