Icarus is an online, turn-based strategy game developed by Freefall Interactive. Players take on the role of one of five major nations as they grow and develop their civilization through the ages. The game is set in an alternate version of Ottoman-Renaissance-era Europe. Each civilization has its own unique combination of resources, units, and abilities, which can be used to create powerful strategies.

Players must strategically build their civilizations in order to become the most powerful nation. Resources can be used to build infrastructure and construct new units, while diplomatic tactics are used to influence neighbouring nations for mutual benefit. Players must also choose between military, technological and scientific advances in order to create their perfect civilization. Different nations can even trade genetic material to create alliances. Additionally, players can form military alliances and create trade plans to further their empires. Victory points are awarded based on economy, culture, technological advancement, and other factors. Ultimately, the player with the most victory points is declared the winner.
